Don’t you just love the awesome feeling that comes with stumbling upon a unique find? Imagine a quaint shop full of confections and delicious sandwiches. The coolest handmade objects by local artisans full of sparkle and wonder, all wrapped up in delectable buttercream!!! Yeah, I know. Sounds too good to be true, but believe me when I tell you that this place exists and it’s called….
Grandma’s oven is perfectly nestled in The Shops at Perry Crossing, AKA Metropolis, bringing a whimsical nostalgia to the very busy outdoor mall. The first thing I remember upon opening the doors was the sincere, welcoming warmth from the owner Robin and her awesome staff. Smiles and twinkling eyes reeled me in, but the glass display case full of cupcakes swirled in fluffy buttercream captured my cake loving heart.
And it doesn’t stop at cupcakes. Robin also has cookies, mini loaves, bars, and her famous Buckeye Brownies, layered with creamy peanut butter and chocolate! Moist, rich , and DELICIOUS!
Robin began her baking journey as a child spending countless hours baking with her shops namesake, her Grandma. I could tell those precious moments lived not only in her heart, but in her baked goods as well and her excellent choice of lighting, handwritten menu boards, and decor truly recreates that warm and fuzzy feeling of home.
In addition to delightful confections, Robin has an amazing staff of talented chefs who whip up hot and cold sandwiches on buttery toasted bread, rolls, and wraps! Their adult grilled cheese sandwich loaded with five different cheeses and caramelized onions is one of my FAVS ,and their hot savory soups are perfect for soothing the bite of the chilly weather. The chefs are very friendly and they greeted me, and other visitors, with warm smiles.
In fact, All of the staff at Grandma’s Oven are full of smiles! See!!!
Robin built her food fan base at Farmer’s Markets and has incorporated her love of the rustic markets with local artistry within her store. Gorgeous one of a kind refurbished furniture, scarves, jewelry, and wonderfully fragrant candles perch proudly upon cool displays and it was awesome to be able to meet some of the artisans.
I just loved being able to ask questions about her wonderfully scented homemade paraffin wax candles made right here in Indy! I have the Citrus and Sage and it’s one of my favorite candles! You can find CandleShtick at their Etsy Shop HERE. You can also find them on Facebook HERE.
You will find body products made with goats milk, vibrant children’s tutu’s, local produce, and other locally crafted goods strategically placed around her store. I mean jewelry, rugs, furniture, and so much more! I was going to write about it, but a picture is still worth a thousand words, so please enjoy these awesome pics!!
You can even order fresh, butchered meat!!! I mean, wow! And the prices are amazing!!!
Don’t you just love it? I could get lost for hours in this place and Robin truly has the heart for her customers. She’s friendly, with a hands on approach with all who come through her doors. Robin will laugh with you, sit and have a cup of her delicious coffee with you, and she will make you feel right at home!
My ENTIRE experience was lovely at Grandma’s Oven and I will be back to shop for some unique Christmas presents very soon!!! Thank you Robin and your awesome staff for excellent service, unique finds, and delicious food!!
